I am sitting on the couch and reflecting on the year that had nearly ended… it has been a crazy roller coaster of a year, something I would near have expected… As a family we have had some amazing highs but have had some devastating lows. As one half of a partnership that I would say is marvellous 90 percentage of the time… its been bloody hard this year navigating through the bumps at times but the questions is would we want to be anywhere else with anyone else… no, but maybe just somewhere else, like on a beach without a care! Relaxing and laughing with some tears at the year we have endured at times, tears from me not him!
Personally, it has been a year that I wanted and needed somethings to change and to have some sort of transformation or jump into something remarkable, new and exciting… I have no idea what – maybe its that I am moving into the next box (45 – 55 box) soon and I am having a slight mid-life crisis that doesn’t involve a younger lover and a hot sports car! or just maybe its because we have been so unsettled living out of boxes in a rental watching our new home (our dream home) slowly being built – the thing that GT and I have worked so hard for not being finished yet and we (mainly me) are over it and just wanting / needing to be re-settled and have all our things in a place in a space where I can find them where they belong! And why we are here on this topic, if like can tell where the hell my corn holders got too or someone somewhere finds them, please return them too me…
February, we continued to watch amazing sunsets at the beach
as summer drew to a close… we caught up with family and re-connected with
family – well as it turned out a boy my hubby knew as a teenager and great friends
with his cousins is in fact my cousin (small world) – incredible really… I stepped way out of
my comfort zone and applied to become an Aboriginal Pedagogical Leader, I made
the cut and spend a week in Brisvegas training, learning and meeting amazing Aboriginal Early
Years Educators from across Australia…. And managed to mix a little pleasure on
this trip and finally meet my handsome nephew’s fiancée and she is so beautiful,
funny and smart and she likes our crazy family! Definitely a keeper… we started
to select stuff for our house – the fun stuff! Oh, and had an amazing night
with two of my Tiddas and Hubby to see the Nothing has Changed… the David
Bowie tribute show at Festival Theatre… I also picked up our travel document
for our first family holiday overseas! And managed a little scrapbooking…. And
our beloved Wallace Ramsey-Rae turned nine.
March, saw us run away to Kuala Lumpur for eight days – it was
surprisingly amazing – we ate, walked, shopped and had a great time experiencing
a beautiful place…But I was glad to come home to Bacon! But honestly KL is a gorgeous
place and easy to get around, totally recommend it, personal highlight for me
was going to the National Textile Museum… As a family the time we spent
at Sunway Lagoon would be high… we
also saw our handsome son turn seven, he had a Deadpool Pool Party with his
class mates! The 2017 AFL footy season commenced with my son getting a signed
footy from Rory Sloan and his discovery of Taco Tuesdays!
April came in a heartbeat, with more footy, Easter, Our Eighth Wedding Anniversary, Anzac Day, School Holidays and Jazz Apples where available
again!
May through to June came and flew by just as quick… they saw
us travel to Melbourne, me back to Brisbane… three weddings, a crazy hen’s
night, with me starting study again, early morning golf lessons for our
handsome man, our slab finally being laid, more footy, and a sneaky evening
with a Close to My Heart Sister for the State of Origin while I was in Brisbane…
July came with some excitement – Spider-Man Homecoming finally opened, school holidays and my birthday! I kicked off the month with some
scrapbooking, my handsome starting AFL, lots of study, the return of Peter Parker
– Spiderman, cold wet days, the frame of our home going up, amazing sunsets, a
scrapbooking weekend away and me living a life long dream, flying in a
Tigermoth for my birthday!
August was the beginning of the dark months that lied ahead…. We all got sick, it was cold and
wet most of the month, I travelled to Ceduna for a few days… Handsome lost a
tooth while playing footy, he went as Greg Heffley for Book Week and started Acting
Lessons… We had to say goodbye to Aunty Leonie, she walked in and stole our
hearts… She was a tough cookie, who always challenged me to be better and look
at the whole picture, to give it my all to follow my dreams, passions and be an
awesome mum and wife. Aunty fought her cancer diagnose until her last breath for
nearly 12 months, but it finally won its battle on her earthly body…
September the heartbreak continued we lost our fur baby
Wallace unexpectedly and fast… One minute we where hugging on the floor
followed by walking to the back door and the next moment he was on the floor
not moving… the next hour was so hard and that evening telling my boy his best
friend had crossed the rainbow was the hardest thing I have ever done… I broke
his heart, I still feel like I let him down… it still kills me to think about that
day and moments leading up to Wallace dying in my arms… then Master Sevens beloved trampoline
broke! And I had to return to Ceduna again in all this madness....
Our little family tried to rebuild from our losses and my Instagram post
of the 26th September just summed up our last two months
To say that the last few months have been rough would be an understatement.
As a family we have struggled been through grief and loss of a family friend beloved
fur baby illness of our own and keeping it all together has been hard... tonight
master seven has come home from school sick again I am over it egg turners digging
deep
Then our footy team Adelaide Crows ripped our hearts out! They
made the grand final and forgot how to play footy!
October came, and so did some warmer weather, the birth of
my beautiful niece, a new trampoline and we saw a lot of movement on our home, Excitement!
Master Seven got into the swing of Freaky Friday at Vacation Care and Halloween
– we saw him get dressed up as the Slender man and as Teen Wolf! We went to the
opening night of Tarnanthi
at the Art Gallery of SA and spent a lot of afternoons at different parks
across Adelaide… We also saw Thor Ragnarok and it was amazing!
The month of November was jammed pack of study, papers due, my
final work trip of 2017 to Port Lincoln (four nights of eating oysters), Italian
Master Class, seeing and hearing Stan Lee, fan Girling over Dr Karl, celebrating
International Fairy Bread Day, sitting in Botanical Park having the sunset
behind you and listening to Cat Stevens, chasing rainbows and having my sister
turn up unexpectedly!!! But the most precious moment was delivering the Acknowledgment of Country at my Schools Annual Awards Night along side of Master Seven at the Entertainment Centre.
December, it feels like if I blinked I would have nearly
missed it at times… On the first of the month we woke to a mysterious door and
our own Elf on the Shelf Gingernuts Emberpie along with the Star Wars Advent
Calendar! We took Master Seven to see a Michael Jackson tribute show and he finished
off the school year, Hubby and I had a very rare date night for his Christmas Show,
Oh my and I spent a lazy Saturday Afternoon at the Art Gallery of SA with
girlfriends eating and looking at Paolo Sebastian Fashion Exhibition, my husband’s
family Christmas Show, Master Seven’s end of year Acting Class Performance… And
a very lazy Christmas followed by a lazy week doing nothing much but shopping
and lying around doing nothing… And finally our home has a Door!
Here’s to an amazing 2018 and to life’s challenges that come my way
